LA Fashion Photographer – Too Competitive For Some?
With Los Angeles being so image conscious, it’s fitting that fashion plays such a key role in looking “in.”  Designer clothing is on the tip of everyone’s tongue, and so many of them want to wear the latest thing.  An LA fashion photographer, as a corollary, is also very competitive.  In this type of photography, the clothing and its designer are the stars; not the model wearing the clothing, and definitely not the photographer.  Some creativity from the photographer is welcome, but not so much that it detracts from what the main goal of the photo is and that is to present the clothing and the designer in the best possible light.

Since fashion is such big business in Los Angeles, the photographers who shoot the models and fashions aren’t the “fresh off the bus” types.  An LA fashion photographer is usually an experienced mind that knows his way around a lens and has the vision to make their subjects look good with the camera.  Most of the time, these photographers have years of experience in fashion photography and have worked with the top names in the industry.  Others have had experience successfully shooting models in the past and have a track record to back it up.

Now, as stated before, the clothing and the designer of the clothing are the star of the picture, but that doesn’t mean that the model and photographer have no role in making the picture what it is.  It is the photographer’s job to make both the clothing and the model look good.  We must remember that the model is doing a job too, and these pictures are important to the model as well.  By working together, both the model and the LA fashion photographer can come up with a creative, visionary way to display the designer’s work to the public.

Being an LA fashion photographer can be grueling at times.  Dealing with the demands of so many people, as well as several other photographers more than willing to put up with the drama to get the job, can be frustrating.  However, it can be very rewarding work.  Excellent photographs and high quality pictures are rewarded with positive recommendations down the line, and eventually another reputable name to add to the network.  Photographers with a consistent network of clients will always find work, even in slow periods.  After all, there are always some new designs that need to be captured in pictures.
